Dehumidification removes moisture from the air during water damage restoration. Controlling indoor humidity helps prevent moisture from remaining trapped in drywall, flooring, insulation, and structural materials.
What the Job Involves
Technicians measure moisture and humidity levels to determine how much drying equipment is needed. Commercial dehumidifiers are positioned to pull moisture from the air while wet building materials continue drying.
Signs You Need It
- High indoor humidity after water damage
- Damp drywall or flooring
- Musty odors
- Condensation on windows
- Slow-drying materials
- Recent flooding or major leaks
How the Work Goes
Affected areas are inspected and moisture readings are taken first. Dehumidifiers are placed based on the size and layout of the affected space, often alongside air movers. Moisture and humidity levels are monitored throughout the drying process until materials reach appropriate drying conditions.
What Affects the Cost
Cost depends on the size of the affected area, moisture levels, number of dehumidifiers required, drying time, and severity of the water damage. Larger spaces or heavy moisture loads may require longer equipment operation.
